Hostname to MAC alias table
« on: March 18, 2011, 12:00:47 pm »
I had submitted this as a request years ago and ISTR it getting dusted off in October of last year.  It was slated for inclusion in version 4.

BTW, I'm still back on the now very old 2.9.3f waiting for this.

You mean translating MAC's into the vendor ID's?
It's on our roadmap for 3.3 :)

Oh, I forgot to mention:
You can now go to http://support.logzilla.pro and place a feature request there.
The neat thing about that site is that users can place "votes" on the features they'd like to have - the top rated votes will then get priority on development...cool huh?

No, not that one.  I know I muddied things up a bit when I made two similar but different requests.  Toggling between MAC and OUI prefix was one of two suggestions.

The other suggestion was to have a table of host name (or user defined comment) to MAC address.

Ok, took me a bit to remember. Then, of course all I had to do was look at the ticket I created :-)
Here's what I have in the ticket:

Yes, for #1 simply an option to toggle on or off.  If it's not to much to ask, have a tooltip (onMouseover) show the MAC, meaning if OUI is turned on, mousing over the field will show the true MAC.

For #2, an alias table that is end-user populated and an on/off toggle to show or hide the alias again with onMouseover showing the MAC if alias is turned on.

If the onMouseover is not possible, a toggle button on the displaying page rather than just a config option buried under some preference would be OK.

Thanks

Ok, so two separate requests here?
1. When displaying a MAC, display it as "VENDOR:00.00" (I can make this a configurable option, on or off)
2. Allow editing (or add/remove) of the MAC translation table from within the web interface?
